Turn what you’ve been through into hope for someone else.

You may make a great CanCare Volunteer if:

  • You are a cancer survivor, or you were the primary caregiver for a loved one with cancer.
  • You want to be there for someone facing what you’ve already faced, because you understand it in a way few people can.
  • You’re ready to walk with someone at your own pace. Many volunteers keep one match at a time and take the next when they’re ready. We ask for a one-year commitment to our Volunteer program.

You don’t need any special background, just your own experience. We’ll fully train you, and you’ll never do this alone. Our team is with you every step.

Please hold off on applying if…

  • You hope to support cancer patients, but you have not had cancer yourself. We match survivors with cancer patients, and caregivers with other caregivers, so every match is between two people who have lived the same role. iIf you are set on supporting patients directly, your local hospital or cancer treatment center is likely a better fit.
  • You or your loved one is currently receiving treatment, or you are currently in need of support. We would love to support you with a survivor or caregiver match. Get 1:1 support, or learn more about our online support groups.
